Can Video Stores Compete With Box Rental Machines?
Can Video Stores Compete With Box Rental Machines? Having been in the Video Rental Software business for 23 years we have watched a lot of things influence Video Stores. One of more recent challenges has been a rental price problem due to box rental machines. Box rental machines normally rent movies for around $1.20 each for DVD's and about $1.50 a day for Blu-Ray. Please note that this rental price is per day. Video Stores prices tend to run 2 or 3 days for 3.00 to 3.50. So exactly what's the problem? The customer rents three videos at the box, the customer spends $3.20 and goes home. The customer could rent the movies at the video store for $9.00 to $10.50. You see the problem? The customer will most likely keep the movies for 2 or 3 days and the box will charge for those extra days right away, so they may spend the same amount but when they first rented they spent a lot less. So what's a video store do to compete? It's very simple with Video Shoppe Software, just set your pricing so the customer can choose 1 day rental or 2 day rental. Use our credit card software to charge for the extra days as soon as a movie is bought back late and everything is good. The customer has a better choice of movies with a video store, better quality and now the same pricing. Our stores that have tried this have seen a big increase in business as the word got out. I can't say it will work for you but it worked for them. Don, VMT Software
